Gabion Basket
Gabion baskets are essentially wire boxes. Baskets are joined together with steel rings. Each basket is filled with stones. Machine filling results in a stable product, which is easily assembled, while hand filling the exposed side of the basket produces an attractive surface.
Our gabion baskets are supplied in various lengths, widths and heights. In order to strengthen the baskets, all the edges of the structure shall be selvedged with wire of greater diameter. The wire mesh used in gabion baskets production strictly conforms to EN10223-3 and gabions also meet the requirements of ASTM A975-97.
Gabion baskets are rectangular mesh baskets that we provide in a range of sizes from 0.5m² upto 2m².The wire mesh varies in diameter from 2mm to 8mm and is either welded or woven, galvanised or plastic coated, depending on application.
Gabion Baskets installation does not require any special equipment (only pliers, wooden formwork, fence tensioner, crowbars).
Materials:
Gabion baskets are made of hexagonal galvanized or PVC coated double-twisted mild steel wire.
Applications:
Gabion baskets can be used in a range of applications from small domestic projects to large industrial schemes.
Gabion structures have proved around the world that they are an effective and environmentally friendly solution where erosion is a problem. When filled with stone, gabion baskets provide an aesthetic method for retaining earth or controlling soil erosion.
As a method for retaining earth, gabion baskets are stacked atop one another to form retaining walls, culvert headwalls, bridge abutments or bridge wing walls. Erosion control uses involve laying baskets or mattresses side-by-side on the ground to develop channel lining, bank protection, weirs and drop structures.
